Synopsis

This book presents the main characteristics, elements, functions and classes of rotating electrical machines as essential equipment in the contemporary world for the development of industry and for the operation of machines in daily use. Likewise, it emphasizes the importance of induction motors today and provides recommendations for the optimization of their management in the workplace, business or industry.
In the first chapter, rotating electrical machines are introduced and their operation is addressed from the fundamental and theoretical to the material and mechanical. In this way, in this chapter, the fundamental laws that allow the operation of machines are presented, emphasizing the importance of the role that electromagnetism plays in these machines. Likewise, in the material part, the main elements that make up the machine are explored, their respective functions and the relationship or interaction that some parts have with respect to others. To end this chapter, a classification of the machines is presented according to their function and their circuit; so, the classification of motors is deepened considering their circuits and also number of phases.
Then, in Chapter II, the model of the induction motor or asynchronous motor is deepened, for which it is contrasted with the models mentioned above. In principle, the definition, characteristics and constituent elements of the induction motor are established in order to establish what are the benefits that this model of motor offers to the industry; then, the principles of its operation are briefly presented and the necessary calculations are established to quantitatively qualify the benefits of this machine in terms of efficiency, power and energy savings. Then, the processes that are executed in the energy conversion procedure and the handling and control capacity offered by this model of motor for long-term personalized use without losing efficiency or causing extra expenses are addressed. Finally, the processes that can be used to convert a regular induction motor into a high-efficiency motor are discussed, as well as the benefits that the use of a motor of this class can have in the development of a company.
Consequently, in the third chapter, the benefits of the use of the variable frequency converter for the optimization of the machinery used in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the National University of Central Peru are examined; In addition to the benefits it offers to reduce costs due to the use of electrical current and energy losses in different areas of the engine. As a result of this case study, some recommendations are provided for the improvement of processes in the maintenance of the machines or the replacement of models by ones with more practical and updated systems. The contribution provided by the aforementioned research can mean an improvement for the entire industry, since the recommendations can be applied in the same way in different companies.
