Structure and antioxidant effect of isolated flavonoids: Viguiera procumbens (Persoon) S.F. blake
Keywords:
isolated flavonoidsSynopsis
The purpose of this work was to experiment with the polyphenolic properties of flavonoids, which act as antioxidants and deactivate the active sites of many enzymes, such as phenolases and methylesterases, and have been used for a long time as dyes for wool; even, the antioxidant characteristics of some polyhydroxyflavonoids can be used for the preservation of fats or juices. Next, the results of the study of the flavonoids of the species Viguiera procumbens (Persoon) S.F. will be explained and shown. Blake whose purpose was to isolate and determine the possible structures of the flavonoids by means of UV spectroscopy and to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the isolated flavonoids and their crude extracts from aerial parts.
