Early detection of pneumonia in primary care in children under 5 years of age

Pneumonia is one of the main causes of death in children under 5 years of age worldwide, as well as in adults over 65 years of age. It can be a serious disease in those organisms that present another chronic underlying pathology; In addition, these diseases can cause various respiratory complications that could lead to death. This is why it is essential to take preventive measures, especially in the most vulnerable age groups, to avoid infection with pathogens that cause pneumonia.
Primary health care (PHC) is given to people as a first level of medical care, which includes early detection and treatment of diseases, education with respect to patients and their families, the latter being very important in the mechanism of social and community health.
In relation to the emergence and suffering of respiratory tract diseases, which result in various pneumonias, primary care services are essential for the prevention and treatment of these in children under 5 years of age. Thus, primary care professionals with a level of knowledge derived from ongoing training and with the required competencies can diagnose and treat ARIs and pneumonia quickly, which can help prevent serious complications.
Taking into account the aforementioned, the general objective of this research is to demonstrate the relationship between the knowledge and skills of the health promoter for the early detection of pneumonia in children under 5 years of age, in the Lampa Health Services Network. , in Peru.
