Agroforestry systems as a proposal in response to the loss of timber forest species

Synopsis

Traditional agroforestry systems are the result of farmers' adaptation to different agroecological conditions. They are generally found associated with native crops, many of which were domesticated and are preserved in such systems. In this way, its technology constitutes an enormous untapped resource that can be applied both to the development of native crops and to the production of commercial crops introduced in areas with unfavorable conditions for conventional production.
This research book focuses on the El Muyo highway in Aramango - Bagua, to the Campanquis Mountain Range (border with Loreto) of the Amazon region, where during the last two decades, due to the improvement of the roads to Imaza and Condorcanqui, has produced a strong extraction of wood from the forest, along the length and width of the road that goes from El Muyo to Campanquis, causing a considerable loss of timber species in a radius of 5000 m from the road axis and where purmas, pastures are currently observed. abandoned, cocoa, cassava and banana plantations, in an area of 245,042.62 ha, which, with the exception of cocoa, only serve for self-consumption.
